The purpose of this workshop is to educate both reviewers and authors on the review process in order to improve the quality of the review process, and consequently the quality of published manuscripts. This will be attained by sharing ESMQ’s standpoint of what good reviews are. Challenges will be discussed, such as quality standard differences between disciplines, conflicting reviews within the reviewer team, and the lack of a consensus on reviewing standards, and based upon the discussion, solutions will be provided. Past and current editors of ESMQ will share their expertise and refer to best practices and worst practices (and how to prevent them). Both authors and reviewers are the target audience of the workshop.
